Pants Ranting #1
There has been a lot of to-do and hoo-ha lately about what is and what isn’t a design project.  The question gets asked “But how is it design?”.  This is annoying, because, for me, it really only relates to what is commonly accepted as design (e.g. product design or automotive design) or to design as a noun, “this design, that design”.  The way I see it the design field is a huge mash up, with possibilities to move at will across a broad range of areas and practices and I see no reason to ghetto-ise (first time this made up work has been used in print) myself or define myself into a corner.  It’s a wild world out there and there a things that are happening that may defy classification but could just as easily be called design.  So before asking this question about something that you can’t pigeonhole, sit back, have a think and ask yourself “How is this not design?”
