Sidelong magazine
One of the first questions that people usually ask when I tell them that I am a designer is “What kind?”  This makes sense when you have a look around at all the types of design and designers about.  But when I look at design magazines though I don’t see the breadth and depth in there that I see in design generally.  So this magazine was started to publish work and writing from emerging designers from a broad selection as possible. So with this in mind the magazine will focus on designs, designers and design issues that aren’t well covered by current design magazines; such as the work of emerging designers, cross disciplinary work, design methodologies plus the critique and satire of design. The idea of the magazine is to open up ideas about what is design, what is happening in all areas of design (including the fringe areas of design) and who is doing what and where and how.

Sidelong’s brief is democratic; it is based on contributions from emerging designers.  Anyone can contribute. We want to hear from you about your work, projects, writing, gossip, reviews,   rants and hearsay; anything that is interesting to you about design can be interesting to others and if it’s interesting to us at Sidelong (and a lot of stuff is) then we’ll publish it.
